It was Jamies goddaughters 10th birthday this weekend. I made this in 15 minutes from an amalgamation of lots of other older designs (in a hectic rush to get to the party as quick as possible! Unorganised!) Unfortunately my printer is rubbish so she didn’t even get to see it. Boo. Must buy new printer.

Another Christening invite. This one is for Laura and Ian, and their two beautiful babies, Molly Rose & Evie Mae.
(Well, one not so babylike anymore, more like beautiful little girl!) Jamie is going to be their godfather, which is so cute! Apparently this makes me godmother-in-law-to-be. Lovely!

My bester is going to Glasto tomorrow for a month to do posh behind the scenes stuff and meet loads of funky musicians. I will miss her cos she will be in a field, and she might not get phone signal… So I made this tonight when I was bored.

So far this year I have mostly been working on my boyfriends lovely sisters wedding invites (along with a poster or two). This is the map/directions I made for the guests… The final thing I will post when it’s all done and printed up!

Happy New Year! I have had a splendiferous festive period, and I’m quite sad to see 2010 go. Despite the huge bad news we had in the summer, it’s actually been one of my favourite years to date. Lots of nice mini holidays, day trips, weddings, celebrations, and quiet times.

My intention was to send all my own personalised cards this year, but I just didn’t have the time to do it! M&S got my money and I sent out loads of cute modern ones. I did, however, create my own design for my boyfriends sister and her fiance, as they bought us a special card that cost a fortune. So… there it is! Merry Christmas and a Happy 2011 everybody!

Christmas is definitely upon us! Nice festive feeling brought to me by the absolute insane amount of snow over the past week. Still haven’t found the time to do any sort of ‘christmassy’ work, but if I want to send homemade cards again this Christmas I suppose I’d better get started! Mama McBean (now Abbey, I keep forgetting she got married!) is not very well this week, could just be that she’s getting run down because of the weather, but the fact that chemo kicks the asses of all the good cells as well doesn’t help! Anyway, I didn’t come here to be depressing, I just came to share some nice winter photos! Goodnight! x

I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE these little boots by my lovely friend Kim Tillyer. As soon as I seen them I wanted a reason to buy some. I could have my own baby, (which I think I might be able to just about handle now after the amount of babysitting duties I’ve fulfilled) though these boots would probably be the only thing I could afford to buy it and it’d be sleeping in a cardboard box like Florence Cameron – at least it’s feet would be comfy and warm…

But then! I remembered that Jamie’s beautiful cousin Laura is soon to have another baba girl in December. YAY. I am so buying her these! Phew. Crisis averted, no baby for me just yet.

Today I gotta take my cat to get his yearly jabs. He is not gonna like me later when I stuff him in his carry basket and let someone poke him with needles. Aww. In other news, I shaved my mams head last week as her hair started coming out. She actually really suits being bald, which is weird! She got married on Saturday and it all went really well and she had a lovely day She has her second course of chemo tomorrow so here’s hoping she stays as well as she has been after her first!

Not had any time the past couple weeks to do much design related things! 
Been wanting to start christmas card designs for James Ellis Stevens, but not even had a chance to look yet… Working ridiculous hours (til 3am) does absolutely nothing for your enthusiasm.

So, the past couple weeks has been mental, mam decided she is going to get married, because of all this cancer business she wants everything to be in order (how extremely depressing) so it has been manic; sorting disco’s and invites and buffets and all of this wedding related crap because – SHE IS GETTING MARRIED IN ONE MONTH. Must be the fastest arrangement of a marriage ever. We got some positive news regarding the cancer shit this week, nothing showed up on her scans to say it’s spread any further, and it’s herseptin negative (no idea what this means, err google..?) which is apparently a good sign. So basically… Wahey.What is not Wahey! is the fact she is shaving her head before her chemo starts next Wednesday. Scary stuff. But at least she will have a nice swishy wig for her big day! Class. Sorry for the non-design ramble.

So, yesterday was results day for Mama Jules, and it didn’t go well. Seeing as I have been posting about it on here I thought I’d do a quick update, but no nice designs to go with it I’m afraid… 9 of 11 lymph nodes removed from her armpit at the time of the mastectomy were cancerous, so it has spread. We don’t really know the whole extent, and if it has spread to other lymph nodes, but it means chemotherapy.. And some other thing that I can’t remember the name of that only certain postcodes can get. So for the next 6 months Jules is going to have a big battle ahead. As usual she is being extremely positive, and it’s us that are finding it hard to cope with. She is only worried about losing her hair, it does sound like such a trivial thing but I know it’s such a huge deal to her. You can disguise cancer pretty easy before chemotherapy (you can’t even tell that she has lost a breast now! only 2 weeks on!) but as soon as the hair comes out its so obvious and she is worried that people will stare. So thats the long & short of it, until she see’s the cancer specialist at Hartlepool next week (good riddance North Tees, you have been absolutely useless.)

So! Tomorrow is Mams results day, keep everything crossed for her! Knocked up this poster last night before I went to see Scott Pilgrim vs The World (which I was really really really looking forward to therefore was disappointed when it turned out to be pretty average… Maybes I set myself up for that fall with the ultimate high hopes) There was some proper funny bits, but overall; average.

Today is my mammys big day, she is getting a breast removed due to cancer. The breast care team have been amazing, but North Tees is quite possibly the worst hospital ever. Every time we have been we have been there for hours on end. They told us the other day she was first on the list for surgery but today we found out this was not the case and they sat us in a dingy room.. if she wasn’t depressed to begin with she certainly would have been after 2 hours of sitting in that room with no bed, in her gown and stockings! So I’m updating because about now she will be coming out of surgery and into recovery and I’m sick of waiting to be able to phone and check if she will be well enough for a visit tonight….

Really, really, really trying to get on with a poster for a punk-rock night but my brain does not want to function seeing as I’m cruising on about 3 hours of sleep. Had quite possibly some of the worst news of my entire life yesterday & I thought doing some designing would take my mind off it but I just cannot find any inspiration anywhere. My head does not want to cooperate. I can always rely on mydeadpony to get my creativeness flowing but tonight it is not happening. Think an early night is on the cards and hopefully tomorrow will be a better day! I was going to upload a pic of a birthday card I did last week but wordpress is also not cooperating so this has turned into a pretty pointless non-art related update.

I got this cool new camera for my birthday and I can’t believe I’ve not shown off some pictures from it before now! I have just been browsing Kim Tillyers blog and looking at her beautiful new pictures so thought I’d do a non-artistic update! This week I’ve been totally hectic but still managed to find time to reread Jonathan Troppers – How to Talk to a Widower; read it! Also spent far too much time than it’s normal on the computer. I’m definitely far too geeky and going to end up with a hunchback.
