WordPress on my mobile? Whatever next? Still without Internet access & it is driving me up the wall, I don’t like how much I rely on the www at all!
New edge poster…

Told a lie when I said my internet was working again; worked for about 30 minutes and then went off again for what seems like a million days! Can’t even blame our ISP either because all the other computers are working, which means it is my mac :[ boo hoo. Snow leopard is out on Friday though so that should fix it up! Until then… I HAVE A NEW JOB TO KEEP ME OCCUPIED, creative also!

Internet is finally working properly, been mobile browsing for weeks except for the occasional time when Virgin actually does what we pay them to do! Absolute rubbish. Shouldn’t totally blame Mr Branson though as both routers we have are useless aswell. Whoops. Anyway, now I can get my act together and do some work. Had a fun time in Fenwicks gift section the other day, you know you aren’t a real girl when you’d rather spend half hour looking at cards and stationary than poring over shoes and make up (that you can’t afford anyway)! My Christmas work is up for sale now on James Ellis‘ website :] I got my first sales analysis the other day and I sold 86 cards in one month! Probably not a lot in the big grand scheme of things but I am still chuffed to bits and it’s only August! Anyway I’m about to start drawing and painting up some cakes ready for some new designs. Toodle pip.

Nightclub poster. Not much happening in this neck of the woods, had a pretty rubbish month, but I finished my business plan! Woopee! That will be all.

Quick one, as I’m off to a business plan meeting. Not much going down at the minute, waiting for a brief from this new agency, going to meetings every week to get a business plan written, getting some cards printed and work sorted and framed for TS1 gallery, still got to finish off ‘love’ cards I was given last month, but somehow I still haven’t had time to start except a few drawings here and there. It’s amazing how time just disappears even when it seems you aren’t doing anything. My birthday is on Monday and my blogs birthday is tomorrow, so … happy birthdays. Bye for now x

Had a visit to Kims yesterday. Was a lovely day weather-wise and a lovely day out! Lots of munching & gossiping & drawing & trampolining went on! Had an interesting phone-call but until I know more I will keep shhhtum cos it always seems to go belly-up when I write about it on here? Hmmm! Anyways, I’ve made my mama a quick little typography mother’s day card, nothing special cos I left it til the last minute seeing as tomorrow is mother’s day! Here are a variety of pictures… Enjoy.

I have been loving MOO for a while, but haven’t had any money recently to buy any of their cool stuff. MOO is a printing company. They print beautiful products, using images you’ve uploaded directly, or designs from their designer galleries. But I was browsing about today, because they also have their own designers section (some very lovely and cool designs, when they start taking submissions again I might send some stuff in!) and noticed you can get 10 free business cards of your own design! So I quickly knocked up a design and sent off for some! They are a really cheap printer, so in the future when I have a bit more money I’m going to get some cool postcards and things printed there! Anyway thought I’d let you all know, and you can get 10 free business cards too! Here is my new one….

I am just too jealous for two reasons: reason one, I can’t even cut a straight line with scalpel and a ruler nevermind cutting anything with a pair of scissors. Cutting is not a skill I possess, I just don’t have the patience! Jealous ! Second reason, it’s just toooo beautiful, the typography is lovely, and so so so so tiny! SO JEALOUS. This work is by Aoyama Hina, you can see her work on her Flickr!

Right, I’m taking myself, my green eyed monster and my grandad for dinner, so enjoy this work, and go and look at all of her other things, she makes teeny tiny carriages too! HMMFFF!

Hello, bonjour, guten tag, g’day, konnichiwa, etc etc! VISIT KIM TILLYERS LOVELY ETSY SHOP!!!! You can get lots of pretty little handmade things and if I was rich (which I am currently not) I would buy lots of her things! I even love her little banner! Anyway, not much to say, I’m trying my very best to feel creative but it is SO hard when you are stuck in the same uncreative (bedroom) room every day. It was so much easier at college to feel inspired, all you had to do was have a wander round the studio and see everyones beautiful work and you would immediately want to go back to your own desk and make something pretty too, but just sat here inside the same four walls is stressful! So this week I’m popping into Redhill again, because last time I visited I came home brimming with ideas and wanting to get creative! Hopefully it will give me the kick I need to start some Valentines 2010 designs I’ve been asked to do by the same company I did the Christmas 2009 Cards for. Anyway, Sayonara!

SNOW!

SNOW!!!! That is all I have to say! We have SNOW! My work, along with the rest of Redhills, SHOULD have been at the Gift show in Birmingham today (which I think is Spring Fair???)…. But bloody snow stopped that! They couldn’t get there. Damn weather! Right well now I’m off to the hellhole that has become my home in the past week, a place where I eat Snickers galore, I’m so glad I get a day off tomorrow I’m about to go crazy! Or maybe die from Snickers fat intake overload. Chowski x
oh.. p.s: Read an amaaazing book today, well I started it last night and finished it this afty – you should read it if you get a chance …. Jodi Picoult’s ‘Change of Heart’… Books don’t normally make me cry but this one did, (in a sad way not a ‘this is so crap’ way)

My mam has always said I’m too “click-happy” when I’m on my computer, I’ll flash backwards and forwards too fast and do stuff too quick that she can’t keep up; so it’s my own damn fault that I managed to delete a full folder of work from Uni, from the freelance I did for James Ellis Stevens. I got an external HD the other day and I put everything onto that and deleted it off my mac to save space… Anyway today I updated the folder with all the new stuff from Redhill but managed to overwrite everything with just the Redhill work. I managed to get most of it back from CD’s from uni but I don’t have everything and most things I do have are just JPEGS so I can’t ever go back to PSD and check layers or edit if ever I need to :[ Oh well, let that be a lesson to me and all of you who are also click happy! Catch you later I'm off to be bored to death at work.x p.s heres a screenshot of my desktop- the design is something I've done for Redhill, it's much better when you can see it properly but nevermind :]

Sitting here on a Sunday afternoon watching Orange Unsigned Act and designing away. Just entered the Tigerprint competition with a different kinda design than normal ‘valentines day’. I’m all for the quirky, different designs when buying a card so I just imaged lots of me buying the card muahaha. Anyway I best get off, got a deadline approaching and I’m only halfway there. See you all later!x

Today Carl Liddle and myself went up to visit Kim at Witchmountain! We had a fun but gluttonous day… Two full cakes demolished and about 10 cups of tea each! We went for a little walk through the Moors to the Dingly Dell waterfall. Was very pretty but very cold and very tiring. Lots of sheep to talk to, they just looked at us like we were daft! We had fun burning logs, paper, leftovers etc etc in Kim’s rustic little kitchen in the fireplace, it kept us toasty toasty warm! Then we had a browse on the internet via Kim’s slow dial-up; we had a look on the Tigerprint blog and did a bit of doodling for the new competition. We all said we would enter but I bet we don’t! Anyway here are some pictures from the day. I’m to go have a lie down and finish Eclipse (by Stephenie Meyer, the lady who wrote Twilight) for the fourth time, because my back feels like its about to break from being hunched over the computer all the time, boohoo! I’ve done a few more designs for Redhill, and I’m loving them. We’ll soon find out if they do too because I’m gonna email it all over tomorrow. Right, relax time! Later gators x

20 designs by the first two weeks in February….. My first real test of actual design work. I’m very excited but also absolutely cacking (ahem, sorry) myself. Much more work than expected at college and after all the hard work the buyer’s might say ‘THATS AWFUL RUBBISH GET AWAY FROM MY EYES,’ but then again I suppose that’s life! It really is a good job that I’m my worst critic; people say I’m too negative about my work, which is true if I’m not 100% happy with something. If I love something then I’m my biggest fan and I have the fattest head in the world, muha ha haa. So I’m off to get cracking. See you in February when I resurface! byeee x
p.s my lovely friend Kim Tillyer is in need of a bit of cheering up, and seeing as my little visit to her beautiful witch mountain wasn’t enough you should all get to her very popular blog and check out her gorgeous dresses and designs, yum yum yum if i had a baby I would deffo buy it a Kim Tillyer wool winter dress even if it was a boy, ahhh lovely. Seeing as I have no work to post heres a pic of the lovely view I took on the way to her house (in the middle of nowhere).

Hello! No work to post at the minute even though I am actually doing some right now. I’m doing a lot of designs for a lady who wants to commission some scrapbook papers, so that should be good. She wants to buy the copyright off me and so forth, but I do not have the first idea what to charge, so I’m getting myself on a business course soon. Right, I’m off to the metro centre to buy myself a keyboard (piano kind, not computer kind). It’s about time I got myself a hobby that isn’t anything to do with art, so I’m gonna attempt (and more than likely fail) to learn some tunes… Bearing in mind I have never played an instrument before the outcome will be interesting to say the least…. Later gators.x
p.s: Oh yes, if you have the chance you MUST see seven pounds, amazing film, will smith is a legend. Also I suggest listening to music by A Fine Frenzy, lovely lovely music, and a lovely lovely voice she has!

Happy birthday year! First post of 2009! It is absolutely baltic outside, I eventually went to the doctors about this cold I have had since October, and brrrr it was cold out there. Anyway it’s going to be another short one as I don’t really have much to say and only one tiny thing to post: a reworked piece of work from an old concept journal. A birthday card for my mums friend… Bonsoir!x

It has been so long that wordpress has changed and gone all spangly! Special! I am now back up and running with Adobe on my mac woohoo.. Haven’t done much designing with the crazy run up to christmas apart from a business card for a hairdressing friend! Tomorrow I’m taking my portfolio to a little craft shop that I visited to buy some envelopes… They asked what I did and everything and we got talking and they are looking for some designs and patterns etc for papers to buy and merchandise. You know, the kind that crafters and scrapbookers cut up for stuff! Funny how a little visit to buy some essentials can land you a bit of work! I’m going through to Northallerton in the new year to Redhill, going to start doing freelancing for them which is all good…. Very much looking forward to that! Anyway here’s a few designs I’ve been working on for Nokkaew, my hairdressing friend. He likes the first design the best and so do I ! Ciao lovelys.

Oof no new posts recently due to a change in computer! Got rid of my old windows PC and swapped it all up with a lovely shiny smoooth and sexy iMac… Only problem is – no programs. Missing illustrator & photoshop and the likes so until i get everything installed etc there’ll be not much going on at this neck of the woods! So, hopefully have it all sorted soon
bye for now, oh and well done to Kim for being all posh and selling work in the big US of A…. yayyy!x

This post is long overdue! I have just recently got back from a well earned holiday, phew! So now I REALLY am going to try and find a real job… I’ve decided to just get any kind of regular job for now as I am totally in need of a normal income, but in the next few days I’m going to get some CV’s and some of my work emailed to greetings cards companies that are in need of freelance designers (thank you to the GCA, I can’t believe I didn’t know about this website before!) There are at least 50 companies that are always taking on new designers, including Hotch Potch, a company that was interested in my work at New Designers. So hopefully I’ll manage to get at least one job from that! :]

Anyway my cousin had her baby girl, Maddison, today; on her due date and she popped out right about the time Obama was elected president! Here is a little card I’ve made for her, I’ve printed it out really small and cute cos babies are really small and cute ! Also I did a quick illustrator design of my little devil cat Blue… I was bored! I’m off to watch crappy fireworks now. Happy bonfire night!

ebusiness cards!

So yes, I bought some E-business cards… CD’s in the shape of business cards; My idea to put all my images and cv on and send to companies, intriguing and not often done I thought. Anyway I did all the measuring of the page I was printing my designs onto and it took bloody ages… Obviously it was silly of me to first do all the layouts and THEN try to put the CD into my CD drive to burn my stuff onto it… It doesn’t fit in my CD drive on my computer…. I could try it on my mam’s computer at work but then this leads me to thinking… If they won’t fit into my computer, which is pretty generic, then maybe they won’t fit in other peoples computers! Argh! They definitely don’t fit in mac CD drives cos they are slide in ones… God diggidy damn! Anyway here is one of my little business cards, they are all gonna be different designs this was really just to test it out! :] Enough babbling for today I reckon! Ciao-ski

Howdy! I am a bit miffed at the minute! I was loving the fairy design I was in the middle of, and when I emailed it to the company I’m doing it for they said they didn’t like it and it was too digitalized! Bummer! It’s strange how you can love something and someone else thinks nothing of it, and how you can not be fond of something and someone else loves it! I think a rule I’ll now go on is: If i like it, its crap! If I hate it, it’s probably good!
Heres the unfinished shunned design, I had loads of little bits to finish on it, but hey ho, I’ll keep it for my portfolio anyway :]

Picture says a thousand words and all that jazz. Managed to bash my scanner a little to scan in a little doodle, but it didn’t half make a funny noise…. Anyway, quick random illustrator file to say thanks to tigerprint thinktank blog (again) for putting me and Kim on their blog. You can’t really see it but theres hand drawn texture inside the hair of the crazy dinosaur. The only bad point about blogs is the lack of quality pictures! :]
