Scary time.

~

Hallmark over. Boo hoo. I’m gutted I now have to try and find a real job, Hallmark was my point of ‘After this work placement I’ll start looking for a real job’ and now Hallmarks been and gone and my job search has not started and I feel all miserable. I have kinda two freelance jobs, possibly, I think it depends on the work I produce whether or not they want to work with me. I really want to work in a studio though, but the contacts I made at New Designers that were in studios either didn’t reply or didn’t have any vacancies! Blah.

Anyway, back to Hallmark. I can’t post any work unfortunately due to them owning everything we did but I’ll try and describe it! Two weeks of constant sketching and using Illustrator, and it was fuuun.. First off we made mood boards, concept thing, mine was based mostly around typography because they loved my typography. So my three main collections were based on a) simplistic dinosaurs in bright colours for “juveniles” (which I learned is children!) b) a quirky line drawing sketch of a girls face with crazy swirls for the hair, very detailed, for teenage girls. c) an owl made up of textures for young adults. Doesn’t sound too good when you describe it but was totally pleased with outcomes and managed to make more than those three collections just didn’t get a chance to put any of the rest of the work into designs.

I surprised myself with being able to get up early and not even feel tired! Shock! I can’t believe how much I enjoyed the real ‘graft’ I can’t wait to find a good job… Heres hoping!! Good luck to Kim Tillyer who has a weeks work experience with Tigerprint next week, I hope she enjoys it!x
